If you have attended (or streamed) St. John’s services lately, have you noticed the carefully placed candles on the altar? The change in color as we move through the liturgical year? The silver chalice at the Eucharist? We often take these things for granted, but they are the result of careful work and coordination by our Altar Guild.
Transforming the church from the bleakness of Good Friday to the joyful burst of color on days of special celebration? That’s the hard work of the Altar Guild, who makes all it all happen.
The Altar Guild is a hands-on ministry that cares for the altar, vestments, sacred vessels, and linens of St. John’s. Guild members work behind the scenes to prepare for and clean up after services including Eucharist, baptisms, funerals, and weddings.
